The LHC has observed a new boson, one of the particles that carry the forces of nature.
Nooooooooo they didn’t. They discovered a new meson, which is a hadron, most definitely NOT a boson. A new boson of any kind would be news the world over, let alone a new fangled boson that was NOT the Higgs. Damnit BBC, sort out your particle physics.
